Solar energy is an enormous resource that is readily available in all countries throughout the world, and all the space above the earth. Long ago scientists calculated that an hour's worth of sunlight bathing the planet held far more energy than humans worldwide could consume in a year. I firmly believe that India should accelerate the use of all forms of Renewable Energy (photovoltaic, thermal solar, solar lamps, solar pumps, wind power, biomass, biogas, and hydro), and more proactively promote Energy Efficiency. However, in this article, I will only focus on the use of Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) technology to meet India's future energy needs.< -

An interesting phenomenon has been noted at several coastal wind farms in the western UK that are located along the Irish Sea. On clear days over the eastern Irish Sea, the wind turbines generate mist and fog on land. The swirling movement of the turbine blades apparently churns the cooler air above the warmer moist air that passes across the turbine blades. It is as is some British wind farms are creating mini climatic zones in the general vicinity of the turbines. -
Feb 18, 2010 |About a month ago, toward the conclusion of an important workshop at the Scuola di Dottorato in Scienza Ambientali of the University of Siena (Italy), Professor Riccardo Basosi or Professor Robert U. Ayres - or both - raised the question of the possible outcome of the forthcoming Copenhagen Climate Summit. Under normal circumstances, they might have expected a variety of opinions on the part of workshop participants, but in this case there seemed to be almost total unanimity: Copenhagen would not succeed, and in words that helped to make the late Humphrey Bogart famous, we had no choice but to 'take it and like it'.

Do you realize that CO2 emissions created by man's activities, combustion of fuels, etc. (called anthropogenic emissions) is miniscule compared to the emissions of CO2 from nature? Table 1 was developed by the IPCC. It shows annual CO2 emissions to the atmosphere from both nature and man and how much of the CO2 emitted is re-absorbed by nature. -

Time to step back from the brink! Recent revelations of possible wrongdoing in Climate Research, now that the Climate Research Unit in the UK (CRU) data and correspondence has been at least partially, if unintentionally released, should raise many questions of scientific integrity. There needs to be a complete re-evaluation of the impact of environmentalist ambitions (in the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change - IPCC process) upon the world and its economy, as well as the possible corruption that government engenders in some scientists in their fight for government funding -- as Eisenhower warned. -

There is something rotten in the state of Denmark about to happen in early December. It is called COP-15 -- Conference of Partners -- and is a meeting of those UN IPCC diplomats striving for World Government and universal taxation under the UN; politicians seeking more power to tax and control peoples' existence; environmentalists striving to reduce the world's use of energy and its population; and certain climate scientists. -
Dec 29, 2009 |Several years ago I gave a number of energy economics lectures which included an insistence that the Kyoto conference on the environment was badly flawed. My reasoning turned on the neglect of nuclear energy, as well as the decision taken at that meeting to promote cap-and-trade (or emissions trading) as the main device for offsetting a too rapid accumulation of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the upper (or perhaps lower) atmosphere.

Wind power generation is expanding worldwide with the tower-mounted 3-bladed design being the most popular wind power conversion technology. However, the variation of designs and range of output level is expanding as researchers and developers continually seek innovative ways to reduce the cost per kilowatt. -

Both the Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) and Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) received $3.25 million inborrowing authority through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009. The Administrations are authorized to use ARRA designated borrowing authority within their respective territories for new transmission, upgrades to existing transmission, and to construct, finance, facilitate, plan, operate, maintain, and study the delivery of renewable energy to markets. -
Dec 01, 2009 |Green this and Green that is all the rage in non-financial circles and when you include government Green noise to the cacophony it becomes almost deafening and the most talked about Green anything is Solar. When sorting through the noise understand that there are two parts to Solar -- Solar in the Generation mix (Wholesale Solar) and Solar in the Use/Distribution mix (Retail Solar).
